Homemade Healthy Cat Diets

A cat’s diet is generally 60 to 80 percent protein, 20 percent vegetables and 20 percent grain. Homemade foods to fulfill these dietary requirements may include:

Protein Sources:

  • Raw ground chuck
  • Raw organic chicken
  • Cooked chicken, turkey, lamb or beef

Vegetable Sources:

  • Use finely grated raw zucchini or carrot
  • Finely chopped alfalfa sprouts
  • Lightly steamed broccoli, carrot or corn
  • Baked winter squash, yam or sweet potato

Grain Sources:

  • Soaked oat bran Cooked barley, millet, oak flakes, brown rice, sweet corn, mashed potato or amaranth

Vitamin Mix:

  • Vitamin E 400 Iu (international units)
  • Vitamin A 10,000 Iu (international units)
  • Vitamin D 400 Iu (international units)

Note: Puncture capsules and mix in meal once a week.

Vitamin Mineral Mix

2 Cups Yeast powder (Brewers or Torula) yeast is a source of B vitamins

1 Cup Lecithin granules

¼ Cup Kelp powder; Kelp is a source of trace minerals therefore ¼ Cup of Trace mineral powder may be substituted for Kelp

¼ Cup bone meal or 9000 milligrams of Calcium lactate or 5 tsp eggshell powder

1000 milligrams Vitamin C (powder) or ¼ tsp Sodium Ascorbate which is a source of Vitamin C

Mix, refrigerate: 1-2 Tsp added daily to meals.
