Did you know?
Many pet products on the market today have warnings on their labels stating “Keep Out of Reach of Children”, Inhaling contents may be harmful or fatal”, External Use Only”, This product may be harmful if swallowed”, and “This product is toxic to fish”. Dermalustre is all-natural, non-toxic, and food grade safe for all ages of animals and people.
What is Silicone?
Any group of semi-inorganic polymers based on the structural unit R2SiO, where R is an organic group, characterized by wide-range thermal stability, high lubricity, extreme water repellence, and physiological inertness and used in adhesives, lubricants, protective coatings, paints, electrical insulation, synthetic rubber, and prosthetic replacements for body parts.

Not properly washing silicones out of hair may result in them coating the hair, preventing hydration.

Don’t get carried away using silicone products. More is not better - too much can build up to a greasy mess.

Dermalustre does NOT contain silicone.
How Often Can Dermalustre by used for Dogs?
Dermalustre unique formula does not coat the skin or hair but is absorbed deep into the skin and hair shaft resulting in treatment of the skin and hair on the inside as well as the outside. You can use Dermalustre as often as needed as it will not build up on the skin or hair. I recommend treating the skin, coat, mane and tail daily with a light mist, and massage or brush in. Continue daily treatment until the health is restored. A weekly or bi-weekly treatment is usually all that’s needed to maintain healthy skin and coat. After bath conditioners are not required, Dermalustre will provide detangling and conditioning keeping the skin, hair-coat and tail healthy.
What are Hot Spots (Acute Moist Dermatitis)?
Hot spots are a source of frustration among dogs and their owners. They are produced by self-induced trauma as the dog bites or scratches himself in an attempt to relieve pain or discomfort. There are many predisposing causes. The most common underlying causes are allergies due to fleas, air-borne allergens and/or food. Other predispositions include other skin parasites, anal sac problems, ear infections, called otitis externa, contact irritant substances, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, (OCD) or psychoses and painful musculoskeletal disorders. Any of these predisposing factors may initiate the itch-scratch cycle. Breeds with a heavy hair coat, dense undercoats and swimmers have the highest incidence of hot spots. The problem is very common in warm, humid climates.
The intense trauma produces an area of hair loss with severe large moist lesions within a few hours. The lesions are typically red, moist and very painful. They are covered with a mixture of cells, fluids and other debris in the center surrounded by a halo of red, raw skin. The margins of the lesions are well demarcated from the normal surrounding skin. Bacteria, most often Staphylococcus aureus invade the area which in most cases results in a skin infection that progresses very rapidly-hence the name “Hot Spot” and requires a visit to the vet. A big vet bill and a course of costly antibiotics usually resolve the problem. Without immediate attention, the lesions spread rapidly and the condition worsens. |
